Meet the Team

The team at The Hazelwell Care Home is made up of our own regular staff who are caring and committed individuals and all share a passion for providing high standards of person-centred care. It is important to us that as a team we build strong relationships, treat each other with respect, and collaborate together to ensure that all staff, residents, and relatives at The Hazelwell Care Home feel supported and appreciated.

    Simon is the Home Manager at the Hazelwell Care Home and brings a wealth of experience with him, having worked in healthcare for over twenty years and starting as a Care Assistant in a nursing home. He then completed his nurse training and has worked across a variety of settings within the NHS for around 15 years; from surgical wards to intensive care, via theatre and then as a nurse specialist. Simon then returned to care homes in 2019 and held roles of Deputy Manager and Home Manager before joining the Hazelwell. Simon is most passionate about delivering high-quality care whilst ensuring that the residents have an environment that is both homely and welcoming for their friends and families.

    Theo is a Registered General Nurse and has gained leadership experience before joining the team at The Hazelwell as Acting Deputy Manager. Theo is passionate about delivering high-quality care and strives to ensure that residents are supported in enjoying their stay at our home.

    Joanna joined the team at The Hazelwell in February 2022. Joanna is a registered general nurse with over 30 years of experience mainly in the care of the elderly sector. Joanna is passionate about providing high quality and person-centred care to our residents at The Hazelwell. Joanna has a level 5 diploma in health and social care- leadership and management. Joanna has had vast experience in managing care homes and leading a team in providing excellent care to her residents. For relaxing Joanna enjoys walking her border collie along the Wirral coastline. Joanna’s mission has always been to make a difference in her residents’ lives.

    Kiya has a wealth of experience in logistics and business administration and initially joined the team as a Receptionist before taking up the role of Home Administrator. Kiya is keen to make sure her role includes as much time with residents and relatives as possible and wants the home to be a happy, vibrant environment for our residents to live in.

    Marc has been a chef for over 25 years, having started out as a trainee chef in a large hotel in the Lake District and working his way up to Head Chef. Marc ran the kitchen for 10 years before relocating to the Wirral where he worked at the Devon Doorway for 6 years. In Marc’s spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter and going fishing and walking.

    Emmanuel is one of our Team Leaders on our night team. He has just qualified as an RGN and is keen to progress to a nurse in the future.  His calm presence is reassuring to our residents, and he strives to ensure they receive the highest quality of care around the clock.

    Helen has worked at The Hazelwell since 2017 and is our Home Trainer, delivering ongoing training to our dedicated staff.  Helen is also a Team Leader and takes pride in leading her care team and providing outstanding care to our residents.

    Lorraine is a very experienced nurse who puts her residents at the heart of everything she does. She leads her care team to do the same and welcomes new members of staff to the team by carrying out their inductions and mentoring them as they continue their journey at The Hazelwell.

    Katie has worked at The Hazelwell since January 2023 and has been instrumental in delivering outstanding nursing care. In 2025, Katie made it to the final 3 when nominated as Nurse of the Year for our company, beating competition from 100 other care homes!

    Khad is one of our night nurses and she joined the team in early 2023. Her attention to detail and caring nature mean that her residents regularly tell us they look forward to seeing her. Families have also commented that Khad “personifies care”, she is a real asset to our team.

    Helen has been with the Hazelwell since 2017, Helen works as a Senior Care Assistant and the Home Trainer role. Helen is responsible for inducting new team members into the Hazelwell and ensuring our team are trained and competent. Helen can be relied on to implement new training sessions and the staff really enjoy her training. During her spare time Helen loves to spend time with her family and relaxing.

    Chanaka joined our team in 2023 and he quickly proved to be a vital part of our night care team. He is a hard-working and cheerful carer, residents tell us that they always know they will have a good night when Chanaka is on duty.

    Jane has worked at The Hazelwell for over five years and her passion for delivering excellent care can be seen whenever she is on shift. She also plays an active role in supporting new members of the team as they join the home.

    Catherine is one of our night carers and since joining the team in March 2023 she has become a key part of that team. She is a qualified nurse in her home country and her experience and knowledge ensure she is confident when assisting our residents.

    Becky joined The Hazelwell in 2024 and has become a key part of our domestic team. You will typically see Becky working on the floors ensuring everywhere is clean and tidy, and also in the laundry area ensuring our residents get their clothing back clean and quickly.

    Terry is one of our experienced carers and is involved in welcoming new staff to the home as well as providing high-quality care. Terry is also a qualified chef and has helped our kitchen team reach new heights delivering high-quality food for our residents each mealtime.

    Kath is our Activities Co-Ordinator and is responsible for the day-to-day activities within the home. She has helped residents develop ideas for their activities including The Hazelwell Adventurers, The Singing Café, and Poetry Mornings. She includes the residents in planning and carrying out their activity programme.

    Robyn joined the Activities team in January 2025 and has made a big impression on residents with her positive attitude and approach to life. Our residents are thrilled to have her as part of the team, and often say how much they enjoy listening to her sing!

    Graham has been our maintenance manager since 2016, Graham is responsible for all the maintenance within the home, ensuring our compliance and maintaining our lovely home for our residents. Graham goes over and above to make a difference to our residents’ homecoming on his days off and getting called out during the evening if things need fixing. Graham enjoys when he does have days off to get away in his caravan.

    Emma is our hairdresser, here to ensure residents look their best at all times. Emma has extensive experience as a professional hairdresser, as well as being a Senior Care Assistant before joining The Hazelwell.
