The Wirral Area and The Hazelwell Care Home

The Hazelwell Care Home and The Wirral Area

Here at The Hazelwell Care Home, we’re always proud to call the beautiful area of Wirral, Cheshire our home. Wirral, or The Wirral Penisula as it’s sometimes known, is located in between North Wales and Liverpool and has an awful lot to offer. Wirral overlooks the stunning Welsh hillsides and slopes, as well as both the River Dee and the River Mersey, and has become a popular UK location when it comes to spending some well needed time outside. From cosy, traditional pubs to brilliant lengthy walking trails, Wirral is often seen as an ambler’s paradise.

We actually recommend going for a walk along the coast to see some of the rarest creatures around, and you’ll see in no time that Wirral truly has it all. Fast train and bus links make it incredibly simple to get to Wirral, and sometimes it’s even simpler to take the Mersey Ferry, which always stops at the Woodside and Seacombe ferry ports if you’d like to do a little bit more exploring. Wirral’s spectacular 25-mile coastline makes for a superb setting for a fun day out with the whole family.

Although Wirral is home to some of the best wildlife in the country, it’s also home to some of the region’s best restaurants and food manufacturers. Enjoy delectable delights at a variety of local Michelin-starred restaurants, unwind in a classic traditional gastropub, or meet some of Wirral’s food heroes and sample some of their local goods at one of Wirral’s many, many farm shops or farmers’ markets. However, if indulging in local treats isn’t your cup of tea, If local goodies aren’t your thing, we recommend you visit the historic Port Sunlight Village and  The Port Sunlight Museum.

These are both fantastic places to learn more about the village’s history, and is often considered a place that both locals and visitors can learn to appreciate the stories of the village’s past. Our Activities Coordinators have planned numerous trips for our residents to visit the incredible collection of art and treasures on show at The Lady Lever Art Gallery situated in Port Sunlight, and has always received excellent reviews from each and every one of them. Our location at The Hazelwell Care Home is a very enviable one, indeed.

For example, you could take a trip to the Birkenhead Priory. Or we suggest a visit to the Wirral Tramway & Transport Museum is you’re more interested in taking a slice of more recent history. This museum celebrates Birkenhead’s role in the history of public transportation, and is definitely an eye-opener.

If our residents, or their friends and family members, are used to living a somewhat more fast-paced lifestyle, Marine Lake is home to plenty of watersports. Whether you’d like to participate, or simply sit along the beach and take in the view, both options are viable and we certainly won’t judge either way. The Marine Lake is part of the recently refurbished and restored-to-its-former-glory New Brighton seaside resort, which is also home to plenty of other exciting attractions for our residents to try out.

With its many attractions, things to do, and wonderful events and festivals, the Wirral Peninsula is ideal for a mini holiday or a short break away from your hectic lifestyle. Explore the coast and the countryside, which includes 50 miles of scenic rural walks, as well as bike paths and beaches. With 14 golf courses to select from, Wirral is also the ideal spot for a golfing break. Find out if Wirral is your new home-away-from-home today.
