Resident gardening in the sun

Bringing Our Outdoor Areas to Life

With the warmer months approaching us in the Wirral, our residents wanted to bring some more colour into our gardens and we thought this may day bank holiday weekend was the perfect time to start! As part of our all-inclusive activities programme, our green-fingered residents were invited to pick out their favourite plants and flowers to spread across our variety of raised planters, bringing our garden to life.

Once all the plants were chosen, residents were supported with placing these in their favourite garden areas. Our residents had a great time digging holes to put their plants in and watering them for the first time. After they were all planted, we stood back and admired their work and it was lovely to see all the beaming smiles on our residents. Taking part in gardening provides them with a sense of achievement and independence, and also something to show loved ones when they visit.

Our outdoor areas are full of raised planters, meaning they are accessible to all of our residents when they want to get involved. Spending time planting in the sun also provides our residents with fresh air, increased energy levels and a serotonin boost. It also offers many social opportunities, with residents telling each other and our team stories about how they used to upkeep their own gardens with their favourite plants when they were younger.

At The Hazelwell Care Home, our residents are at the heart of everything we do and we want them to explore current interests or new hobbies, no matter what their needs are. Our team is on hand around the clock to ensure residents are alleviated from any stress of daily chores or upkeep and can focus on doing the things they love the most.

Come and see our beautiful garden areas for yourself! Book a tour around our elegant care home today or get in touch with a member of our dedicated team to find out how we can support your loved one at The Hazelwell Care Home.
