Getting Out in the Community

Residents At Local Hall

Some of our residents from The Hazelwell recently went on a trip to Heswall Hall where they enjoyed a morning full of singing and dancing with other town locals.

Here at Hazelwell, we value providing residents with the chance to get out and about in the local community. It gives individuals the opportunity to socialise with friends new and old and spend time doing what they enjoy the most whilst staying in our care.

On September 8th, 14 of our residents went on a local trip to partake in a Jazz morning at Heswall Hall. They spent their time singing and dancing with people from the local town whilst enjoying some coffee.

Singing and dancing have numerous benefits, with a vital one being that it allows people to express themselves through music and find their sense of self.

There are also a number of advantages to music therapy for older people, such as it aiding in relaxation, relieving feelings of stress, anxiety and loneliness, and also helping with reminiscence as it evokes memories from their younger days which can also bring on a wave of positive emotions.

We at Hazelwell are proud to be an active part of the local community and particularly enjoy building relationships with our neighbours and other local businesses. By doing so, it means our residents can socialise more and stay familiar with the local community they live in.

Our staff and residents love to host and get involved in any activities possible as part of our varied activities programme. Their favourites include seasonal fayres, coffee mornings and fundraisers.

Our residents enjoyed this particular event to such an extent that we are already organising our next trip to Heswall Hall.

If you would like to find out more about what we get up to at Hazelwell, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
