Residents Sing and Dance the Afternoon Away

At The Hazelwell Care Home, we like to regularly invite entertainers of all kinds to our home.

On the 14th of September, we invited entertainer David Voyle to our home to perform for our residents for the afternoon.

The residents had a wonderful time and spent the afternoon up on their feet, singing and dancing away with each other whilst also enjoying some drinks. Staff members even got involved and had a dance with our residents. Moments like these really help strengthen the bond between our residents and staff.

At Hazelwell Care Home, we are always delighted to see our residents with smiles on their faces and having a good time. That's why our activities team goes to great lengths to create a varied activities programme that is full of opportunities for our residents to socialise, try new things, and explore the local community.

Many of our activities and events have a musical theme, as we know just how beneficial singing and dancing can be for all of our resident's physical and mental health. It encourages socialising, light activity, and stimulation, which was clearly the case for many of our residents who took to the floor to have a dance.

It is also an essential part of our dementia care, as, for those living with dementia, music can have a positive impact on wellbeing. For example, music can improve and boost one's mood, reduce stress, evoke memories and is inclusive for everyone as residents can either dance, sing, or hum along.

Above all, it is fun for our residents and they had such a wonderful time with David that we can't wait to invite him back again.
