Nursing Care

At The Hazelwell Care Home, our dedicated and highly skilled nurses and care professionals provide 24-hour nursing care for older people who are living with physical impairments, increased dependency needs, and those who might be in need of end-of-life care. In addition to nursing care, our team also has the skills and experience to provide dementia care and palliative care within our purpose built home.

Our teams are nothing but respectful and supportive of our residents, as well as their loved ones, friends, and families. Our care home on the Wirral, Cheshire provides individuals with the assurance of professional care services while maintaining their independence. We believe every resident should be given the opportunity to live an enriched and independent life in a supportive, caring environment.

What is Nursing Care?

Nursing care is for those who require medical and personal care 24-hours a day, seven days a week. This type of care is often best suited for older people who are living with physical disabilities, long-term health conditions, and intensive care needs. Residents receiving this kind of care have complete access to on-site support from nursing professionals, day and night; making us an excellent choice for people who have medical conditions that need around-the-clock care in the Wirral area. Our purpose-built care home has been designed to provide long-term care, with a range of first-class facilities and services that supports each and every resident with their care and personal needs.

Nursing Care FAQs

Care homes and nursing homes may slightly differ in terms of their offering and will depend on the needs of each individual resident. At The Hazelwell Care Home, we can provide a variety of nursing services such as medication management, wound care, help with activities of daily living, and monitoring of chronic conditions such as Motor Neurone Disease and Parkinson’s Disease. Our nursing staff also coordinate care with other healthcare providers when necessary, ensuring that each resident receives the care they need to maintain their health and wellbeing.

The below signs may be an indicator that you need to consider a care home for a loved one.

  • Significant weight loss or changes in appetite
  • Increased confusion or forgetfulness
  • Difficulty performing activities of daily living (ADLs) and personal care such as bathing, dressing, or grooming
  • Recent hospitalisations or emergency room visits from falls or accidents
  • Worsening chronic health conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, or dementia
  • Difficulty managing medications or complying with treatment plans
  • Need for specialised medical equipment or care, such as oxygen therapy or wound care

Care homes and nursing homes can perform a care needs assessment and provide advice on the type of care your loved one is best suited to. When making the decision to move into a care home, it is important to communicate openly with your loved one regarding their care.

The Hazelwell Care Home takes its responsibility and duty of care very seriously. We ensure the safety of individuals by providing adequate staffing levels, ensuring that nursing staff is properly trained and qualified, implementing protocols for infection control and medication management, and conducting regular safety audits and assessments. We have also implemented security measures to prevent unauthorised access and protect our residents.
